Woman faces child neglect charge after boy wanders outside
Friday, April 10th, 2009 by Ana X. CeronPORT ST. LUCIE — A woman was arrested on a child neglect charge this afternoon after police found her sleeping in her bathroom and the boy she was baby-sitting wandering outside, a department spokesman said.
A witness told police the 2-year-old boy was found on a canal bank behind a business plaza with two alligators in the water, police spokesman Officer Thomas Nichols said this afternoon. The boy was only wearing a dirty shirt, according to a police report. Police searched the area and found an open door at a home nearby.
When police got to his babysitter’s house in the 2300 block of Southwest Seafury Lane at around 2 p.m., they found 26-year-old Brandy Albright sleeping on a toilet, Nichols said.
