FORT PIERCE — A 22-year-old man accused of forcing a teen girl to perform a sex act on him before raping her at his mother’s home faces felony charges, according to an arrest affidavit released Monday.
The 16-year-old girl told police Sunday she met Timothy E. Mitz, of the 2800 block of Avenue H, about three to four weeks ago and engaged in “semi-consensual” sexual activities during that time.
She told investigators she was at Mitz’s mother’s residence on the 700 block of South 29th Street and went to sleep about 3 a.m. Sunday.

STUART — The image of a man’s arm wrapped around her front tire still haunts Jessica Leslie eight years later.
It was November 2001 when a 20-year old Leslie of Boca Raton was coming back from an evening of partying that she decided to drive home drunk. She told her story to a crowd of about four dozen at a Thursday community program at the Martin County Administrative Center on the dangers of drinking and driving.
Leslie never made it home but ran over Patrick McDonough, 41, killing him. (more…)

Note to teens facing a potential prison term: don’t use your MySpace page to post photos of police officers and wish “AIDS and genocide to all law enforcement.”
That’s what Stuart resident Jesse Alan Walker, 19, did while awaiting a June trial in which a jury convicted him of robbery with a firearm related to a 2008 home invasion armed robbery. At trial, he was accused of planning the robbery with two then-20-year-old co-defendants, who once played football for Jensen Beach High School.
“I hate the (expletive) police,” Walker posted on MySpace last December, along with photos of Stuart Police officers and derogatory comments.

PORT ST. LUCIE — City officials sent hand-delivered letters to inform the parents or guardians of 280 campers that an individual at one of the city’s six day camps was diagnosed with a “suspected” case of swine flu.
“Because the case has not yet been confirmed, the city has determined that the camp remain open and maintain the same hours,” according to a city press release.
The city is enhancing its cleaning and disinfecting procedures along with educating staff on the symptoms of the swine flu, also known as the H1N1 virus.
The city is working with the St. Lucie County Health Department to monitor the situation, city spokeswoman Rita Hart said. Hart said the city would not disclose which camp the individual participated in or whether the affected person was a child or staff worker, due to privacy concerns, Hart said. (more…)

A Palm City man reported he was stabbed early this morning, and detectives are now investigating the incident.
Coquina Cove resident Paul Embry, 33, told Martin County Sheriff’s detectives that he saw a teen by his vehicle at about 5:30 a.m. He said he confronted the boy and then felt what seemed like a “bee sting” in his abdomen, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Rhonda Irons.
A relative drove Embry to the hospital for treatment. His injuries do not seem to be life-threatening, Irons said.
Detectives have not yet recovered a weapon.

STUART — An affidavit released by sheriff’s deputies accuses a man of a brutish attack Tuesday on an 11-year-old boy.
William Raymond Dion, 18, of the 5800 block of Southeast Avalon Drive, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.
According to the affidavit, the boy was riding his bicycle near the intersection of Southeast Dixie Ross Street and Southeast Robert Loop Road at 6:40 p.m. when Dion hit him in the hip and the face with a chunk of cement.
He then pushed the boy off his bicycle as the boy attempted to get away, the affidavit says.
The boy’s face was extremely swollen when deputies arrived. His parents took him to an unspecified hospital for treatment.
Dion was being held Wednesday in the Martin County Jail in lieu of $10,500 bond.
