JENSEN BEACH — The Treasure Coast Square Mall suffered significant smoke and water damage after a small fire broke out inside Santa’s Helper, Thursday morning, though the fire was quickly extinguished, a Martin County Fire Rescue spokesman said.

Just after 7 a.m., fire rescue received a call from an alarm company reporting a smoke alarm at Santa’s Helper, and about a minute later a security guard confirmed the fire, said Jon Belding, bureau chief of communications and public information officer for Martin County Fire Rescue.

FORT PIERCE - Children can eat breakfast with Santa or receive a phone call from him this holiday season courtesy of the St. Lucie County parks and recreation department.

“Breakfast with Santa Claus” is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Dec. 20 at the new Havert L. Fenn Center at 2000 Virginia Ave. Children can have a continental breakfast with Santa, make a holiday craft and take home a goodie bag. Cost is $5 per child. Call early to sign up.

Parents also can call to register their child to receive a phone call from Santa. Calls will be made in the evenings of Dec. 16, 18 and 23.

PORT ST. LUCIE - Parents can register their children to receive a personal phone call from Santa this holiday season.

The parks and recreation department is holding its annual program again this year, and parents are asked to register by Dec. 8. The calls will be made on Dec. 9 or Dec. 18 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
