Stuart woman charged in Port St. Lucie drug deal involving 160 oxycodone pills, police say

PORT ST. LUCIE — A 36-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after selling an informant nearly 160 oxycodone pills, according to an affidavit released Thursday.

Gina M. Sanchez, of the 100 block of Everglades Boulevard in Stuart, met the informant about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

The informant, who met earlier with a police investigator, had been given $1,020 and had been followed to the scene by members of the police department’s Special Investigations Unit.

The informant got into Sanchez’s vehicle, and Sanchez exchanged 157 oxycodone pills for the money.

Police arrested Sanchez on a felony trafficking in oxycodone charge and took her to jail.

Port St. Lucie Police looking for man in Walgreens robbery

PORT ST. LUCIE — Police on Monday released photos of a man accused of robbing a Walgreens last week of methadone tablets and are asking for help to find him, according to a release and police records.

The man reportedly entered the store in the 200 block of Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard about 4:50 p.m. Thursday with a blue and white towel over his shoulder.

He walked to the pharmacy counter, though by that time the towel was wrapped around one hand. The man, who is white and thought to be in his mid 40s, wore a camouflage hat, white T-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes.

Raid on Sebastian home turns up 3,000 illegal pills, stolen auto parts, police say

SEBASTIAN — Police investigators said they uncovered a criminal enterprise involving ill-gotten prescription drugs, out-of-state pill smuggling and stolen auto parts when they searched a home last weekend.

Investigators spent 30 hours searching an undisclosed home late Friday and most of Saturday, said Sebastian Officer Steve Marcinik, police spokesman. Eight investigators recovered more than 3,000 pills with a street value of $60,000, as well as $6,500 worth of stolen property and $4,500 cash, investigators said.

“This shows a direct link between theft and the illegal prescription drug business,” Marcinik said.

Port St. Lucie police arrest scrub-wearing Palm Beach County nurse, man in oxycodone probe

PORT ST. LUCIE — An investigation stemming from an earlier racketeering case landed a pair from Palm Beach County, including a scrubs-wearing health department nurse and a Loxahatchee man, behind bars last week, according to police and recently released arrest affidavits.

The Friday apprehension of Robert Allen Cline, 46, and Nicole M. Ruby, identified as a licensed practical nurse, stemmed from a probe that brought the arrests last month on racketeering charges of Kayla “Lady K” Resseque, 21; Thomas “Red” Cravatt, 44; and 53-year-old Donald J. Mack, also known as “Macaroni,” “Mack,” “Peewee” and “Roni.” (more…)

Woman jailed after allegedly trying to find boyfriend’s drugs

FORT PIERCE — The girlfriend of a man arrested in connection with a robbery last month is behind bars herself after investigators say the couple talked on the phone in code about selling prescription pills to bond the boyfriend out of jail.

Kayla Newton, 21, faces a charge of conspiring to sell oxycodone after she was allegedly heard asking Roy Dillard where he had hidden a “shoe” that could help hire an attorney for him.

“I need more clues,” Newton told him, according to a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office report. “The shoe could help you, Roy.”

Woman faces child neglect charge after boy wanders outside

PORT ST. LUCIE — A woman was arrested on a child neglect charge this afternoon after police found her sleeping in her bathroom and the boy she was baby-sitting wandering outside, a department spokesman said.

A witness told police the 2-year-old boy was found on a canal bank behind a business plaza with two alligators in the water, police spokesman Officer Thomas Nichols said this afternoon. The boy was only wearing a dirty shirt, according to a police report. Police searched the area and found an open door at a home nearby.

When police got to his babysitter’s house in the 2300 block of Southwest Seafury Lane at around 2 p.m., they found 26-year-old Brandy Albright sleeping on a toilet, Nichols said.

Caught with cocaine, Fort Pierce man said he was wearing his son’s pants

FORT PIERCE — After an officer pulled cocaine from Bobby L. Burgess’ pants pocket, the 44-year-old local man said he was wearing his son’s trousers.

But that revelation did not keep Burgess out of jail following a Monday morning police encounter.

Two oxycodone trafficking arrests made in St. Lucie County

Two separate arrests involving oxycodone pills were made in St. Lucie County Friday.

Matthew Joseph Elka, 20, of the 2000 block of Southeast Eatonville Street, is suspected of trafficking oxycodone, according to an arrest affidavit from the Port St. Lucie Police Department released Sunday.

The report states a confidential informant told police Elka was selling oxycodone. On Friday, an undercover officer allegedly bought 20 pills from Elka for $140 at a Cumberland Farms store near Lennard Road. Elka is in the St. Lucie County Jail on $75,000 bond. (more…)

VERO BEACH — Ray Adams took his wife Phyllis outside, behind her work place, and told her to hold him as tight as she could — just like he held her.

What he said next devastated her, there in the bright sunshine off Ocean Drive.

Their 19-year-old son Nolan died a few hours earlier on Jan. 25, 2005. He ingested two capsules of the potent drug methadone William McCartney III, 34, is accused of selling to him illegally for $50 the day before in Vero Beach. (more…)
