Teen charged with stealing yearbooks, selling them

STUART — A teen faces a grand theft charge after allegedly admitting he stole his high school’s yearbooks and sold some of them.

Martin County High School Assistant Principal Jack Valerio told Martin County sheriff’s deputies that eight of the yearbooks had been stolen out of the gym’s concession stand area earlier this month.

The 17-year-old boy told Valerio that he was the one who had taken the books – valued at $85 each – and sold a couple of them, according to a sheriff’s report. The teen agreed to return the books back to the school.

Valerio contact sheriff’s officials and the teen was charged with grand theft.

Another girl arrested in stabbing at Martin Co. High

Another woman has been arrested in connection with last Friday’s stabbing at Martin County High School.

Shakerria E. Boggs, 18, faces a battery charge after Martin sheriff’s deputies say she was involved in an altercation with an assistant principal at the school.

About 20 to 30 people were involved in a melee after a Friday night football game between Martin County and South Fork high schools.

Stabbing suspect says fight over graduation tickets

Before she was handcuffed and transported to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect in the stabbings at Martin County High gave her side of the story to a local television station.

STUART — Melanie Mitchell says she never stabbed anyone at Martin County High School on Friday night.

Before being handcuffed and taken to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Mitchell, 21, sat with Channel 12 and The Palm Beach Post to talk about that night’s melee involving 30 people.

Mitchell said today that she wanted to tell her side of the story before she was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery with a weapon.

Five stabbed in fight outside football game

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office now says that five teenage girls were stabbed by a teenage girl during the melee after a football game at Martin County High School.

None of the injuries are considered life threatening. Deputies are still looking for the girl wanted in connection with the stabbings.

The sheriff’s office says one person was Tasered by a sheriff’s deputy, one person was bitten by a police dog and one woman was arrested in the series of unrelated fights that involved about 30 people outside at the school, sheriff’s deputies said. (more…)
