A Port St. Lucie man faces an animal cruelty charge after police searched his home and found a dog with open wounds — some exposing bone — in his home.
Robert Hester, 48, faces cocaine trafficking charges after allegedly selling $1,650 worth of the drug to an undercover officer on Monday. He was arrested that day following the sting.
When Port St. Lucie police later searched his home in the 2200 block of Southeast Shipping Road, they found marijuana, 38 live rounds of ammunition in the master bedroom and dirty cages with dogs inside, according to a police report.
There were three dogs in cages, and one on a leash, police spokesman Officer Thomas Nichols said.
