PORT ST. LUCIE — A man is accused of confronting a boy about cutting across his yard and then slapping him after the 12-year-old refused to tell him where he lived.

The Port St. Lucie boy told police he was walking to a friend’s house on Monday when he cut between two houses, prompting a woman in the 1400 block of Southeast Proctor Lane to yell at him.

The boy said he yelled back and insulted homeowner Angelina Perugini.

Later, when he was outside his friend’s house on O’Donnell Lane, a gray sports utility vehicle pulled up, he said.

Michael and Angelina Perugini
stepped out and began yelling and cursing at the boy, he told police.

When Michael Perugini, 37, asked the boy where he lived, the boy replied, “in a trash can.”

Cortina Wobbleton, 26, told investigators with Stuart police and Martin County Sheriff’s Office that she was aware that Lamar Lloyd, 21, and Damian Louissaint, 21, had robbed a Pizza Hut and a Sunoco gas station while she and her children were outside waiting in the car.

Minutes and about 2.5 miles south later, the men entered the gas station in the 4500 block of U.S. 1 and demanded money, according to sheriff’s reports. They also took Black & Mild cigars, Newport cigarettes, Dentyne Ice gum and an energy drink, the reports show.

Port St. Lucie woman who abused adoptees gets 20 years in prison

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 by TCPalm.com

FORT PIERCE — A Port St. Lucie woman who forced her adopted children and young adults to sleep on a storage room floor, will spend most, if not all, of the next 20 years in prison, according to TCPalm.com.

Judith Leekin, 63, pleaded no contest late Wednesday afternoon to four counts of aggravated child abuse and four counts of aggravated abuse of disabled adults — some which have mental and physical disabilities.

Circuit Judge Robert Belanger, calling Leekin’s actions “reprehensible,” sentenced her to 20 years in prison, the maximum term called for under a negotiated plea.

Florida law requires Leekin to serve at least 85 percent of her 20-year term.

Belanger allowed roughly the first half of Leekin’s sentence to run concurrently with a 10-year, 10-month term she received in New York City last year for defrauding that state’s adoption system out of $1.68 million that was supposed to go toward taking care of the adoptees.
