Teen pried from wrecked car in Fort Pierce, taken to trauma center

FORT PIERCE — A man in his late teens was taken to a local provisional trauma center Sunday after his car crashed into a palm tree, a St. Lucie County Fire District spokeswoman said Monday.

Crews responded about 9:45 a.m. Sunday to the incident in the 4100 block of Sunrise Boulevard, Fire District spokeswoman Catherine Chaney said.

Port St. Lucie crash injures two

PORT ST. LUCIE — Two people were injured after a Sunday afternoon car crash.

At about 1 p.m. St. Lucie County Fire District crews were called to the intersection of Peacock Boulevard and St. Lucie West Boulevard, where two cars had collided, according to district spokeswoman Catherine Chaney.

One man in his early 50s was flown to a local trauma center in critical condition, Chaney said. A woman in her late 20s was taken to a local hospital.

Man killed, woman injured in I-95 crash near Palm City

A man died and a woman was badly hurt in a single-car crash on Interstate 95 near Palm City on Saturday morning, authorities said.
Nicholas F. LaMaina, 77, was killed while riding in a 2007 Cadillac Seville driven by Carolyn LaMaina, 65, according to a Florida Highway Patrol bulletin circulated this morning.
About 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the LaMainas, who lived in Boynton Beach, were driving north on Interstate 95 near mile marker 106 when Carolyn LaMaina apparently lost control of the Cadillac, the bulletin said.
The car veered off the roadway and hit a stand of trees before rolling over.

Nicholas LaMaina, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, died during the crash.

Carolyn LaMaina, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in serious condition, the bulletin said.
