Indian river County cops investigate dead body, nude wanderer and burning car in same area

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Detectives investigating what may be a homicide are considering the death of an unidentified man, a burning vehicle and a partially nude wanderer, all found in a rural area early Monday, may be related.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said utility workers discovered the burning car in a wooded area in the 9800 block of 12th Street west of Interstate 95 shortly after 8 a.m. The body was found a quarter-mile away from the car, Sheriff Deryl Loar said.

Detectives are investigating the case as a homicide, but no cause of death has been specified yet. The Sheriff’s Office said an autopsy will be conducted on the man, who is in his 50s.
