Stuart attorney Willie Gary’s son released on $10,000 bond on charge of growing marijuana

HOBE SOUND — A son of prominent attorney Willie Gary of Stuart and a Hobe Sound man were arrested Tuesday after the Martin County Sheriff’s Office raided a Hobe Sound home used as a marijuana grow house, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Kobie Gary, 30, of Jensen Beach, and Stephen Shepherd, 33, a tenant at the $125,030 home in the 7200 block of Mulberry Drive, were each charged with cultivation of cannabis and possession of marijuana over 20 grams.

Both Gary and Shepherd posted $10,000 bond and were released about 10 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

Not even at a gun show: Short-barrel rifle gets Vero Beach man arrested in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE — A 39-year-old Vero Beach man was arrested Saturday after being found with a short-barrel assault rifle outside a gun show at the Havert L. Fenn Center in Fort Pierce, according to a recently released arrest affidavit and a sheriff’s official.

James Mathew Kennedy, of the 1000 block of 27th Avenue Southwest, took the AR15-type rifle into the gun show, where he went to buy parts, officials said. They gave this account: The rifle had a barrel length about three inches shorter than is allowed without first going through a lengthy federal approval process.

Port St. Lucie man faces neglect charges after toddler left in running car

PORT ST. LUCIE — A 42-year-old man was arrested after allegedly leaving his baby daughter alone in a vehicle at a business on South U.S. 1, according to an affidavit released Wednesday.

Tyrone R. Anderson, of the 1900 block of Southeast Hillmoor Drive in Port St. Lucie, faces a felony child neglect charge following the Tuesday afternoon incidents in the 10700 block of South U.S. 1.

A witness reported seeing the vehicle about 4:30 p.m. with the baby inside. The vehicle was running and no adult was present. The witness said another person indicated the vehicle was parked in the same spot about 3:45 p.m.

Two charged with running meth lab in Vero Beach home

VERO BEACH — Two people were taken into custody Tuesday morning after law enforcement officials raided a house suspected of being a methamphetamine lab.

The Multi-Agency Criminal Enforcement Unit had been investigating the home for about a month and conducted some undercover purchases at the home in the 1300 block of 30th Avenue, Vero Beach, Indian River County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Jeff Luther said.

“The evidence inside the home indicated an operation to cook meth for personal use, but we monitored a large amount of traffic to the home,” said Sheriff’s Lt. Darin Jones.

Port St. Lucie Man drops kids at ex-wife’s and has gun pointed at him, he tells police

PORT ST. LUCIE — Police arrested a man after they say he pointed a gun at another man and punched him “a few times” in the head, according to an affidavit released Monday.

The victim went to drop off his two children Sunday at his ex-wife’s home in the 400 block of Southwest Paar Drive, authorities said.

Woman led officers on 110 mph chase in St. Lucie to Indian River counties, tells judge she gets money from God

VERO BEACH — A 25-year-old New York woman faces seven driving-related charges, including child endangerment, after eluding law enforcement at high speeds for 10 miles on Interstate 95 early Tuesday afternoon, reports show.

Maria “Zion Christ” Roberts drove her white van in excess of 110 mph from northern St. Lucie County to Indian River County while going in and out of traffic and attempting U-turns.

Four miles south of Sebastian she crossed the median and sped north in the southbound lanes for several miles before sheriff’s deputies finally were able to puncture one of her tires and the car slammed into a guardrail.

Port St. Lucie retiree tries to go upside ‘lazy’ son’s head with a baseball bat, police report

PORT ST. LUCIE — Police arrested a retired man accused of grabbing a baseball bat during a confrontation with his son and saying he was “going to hit him upside the head,” according to recently released records.

Dennis Janowicz, 64, faces a felony aggravated assault charge following the Saturday incident at his listed address in the 300 block of Southeast Lancaster Avenue.

The victim, Janowicz’s 45-year-old son, told police that Janowicz came in his bedroom and started yelling.
