PORT ST. LUCIE — A Port St. Lucie woman is out on $25,000 bail after being charged with conspiring to kill her ex-husband and getting her ex-boyfriend to do “the job,” a police warrant application shows.

Port St. Lucie police on Wednesday charged Mary F. Pedreira, 54, of the 600 block of Southwest Ewing Avenue, with solicitation to commit first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder after the former boyfriend she attempted to hire told police about the plot.

Oxycodone possession charge leads to resignation of Fort Pierce-based trooper

Federal authorities have arrested a Florida Highway Patrol trooper and issued him a notice to appear in court after concluding an investigation, according to records obtained Wednesday and an FHP official.

Trooper Gary Bach, who was placed on administrative duty with pay in mid-May, also resigned in a letter dated Tuesday, records show. Bach worked out of the FHP’s Fort Pierce office.

According to federal court records, Bach was accused in May of possessing oxycodone, which the documents list as a misdemeanor charge.

FORT PIERCE — Lokmen Hossain said he got his gun because he knew he was going to try to kill his wife.

Hossain, 21, is accused of firing a shot late Wednesday in the BP gas station where he works, missing his wife of six months. He tried again to shoot her, but the weapon jammed.

Port St. Lucie man beaten with baton in traffic spat

 — A 42-year-old Port St. Lucie man was in the county jail Sunday on $50,000 bond after being accused of striking another motorist in the face with a metal baton.

Port St. Lucie police charged Sonnel Jose Andino, of the 1200 block of Southwest Ackard Avenue, with aggravated battery following an incident Saturday morning on Southwest Dalton Road.

PORT ST. LUCIE — A 24-year-old man who said he had seven beers and four shots was arrested Wednesday morning after police say he crashed a Honda into a house on Southeast Crowberry Drive, records show.

Julius Burnett Fletcher, of the 800 block of Southwest College Park Road in Port St. Lucie, faces at least a DUI charge following the 5:26 a.m. crash in the 1500 block of Southeast Crowberry Drive.

PORT ST. LUCIE — Jeffery Craig “J.C.” Zwemke first told police he was a “DEA agent,” then said he was a consultant for the CIA and the FBI.

Stopped Monday after an officer saw him not wearing a seat belt, the 63-year-old man also said he was a Navy SEAL.

PORT ST. LUCIE — Two Jupiter men were arrested Monday evening after police linked them to a $1,400 oxycodone deal in a parking lot on Gatlin Boulevard, according to affidavits released Tuesday.

Quincy McGhee and Phillip Reck, both 24, face trafficking oxycodone and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana charges following the incident in the parking lot of the Home Depot in the 2200 block of Southwest Gatlin Boulevard.

McGhee also was arrested on an illegal use of a two-way communication device charge.

VERO BEACH — A Kentucky woman sought to buy a large amount of oxycodone with her two children in tow last week, police said.

Barbara Michelle Groce, 23, of Somerset, Ky., was charged with trafficking oxycodone and child neglect Thursday. She posted $27,500 bail at the Indian River County Jail Friday. (more…)

Indian River middle school teacher arrested in oxycodone sale, police say

An Indian River County School District teacher is out of jail on $150,000 bail after being charged drug trafficking, a Vero Beach Police report states. Raquel Wright, 36, of the 4600 block of 43rd Court, is charged with trafficking oxycodone after selling prescription drugs to an undercover police officer.

About 6:30 p.m. Friday, Wright sold 70 oxycodone pills to an undercover police officer for $1,000, the arrest report states.

Records showed Wright employed as a middle school language arts teacher at Oslo Middle School.

PORT ST. LUCIE — A veteran remained in critical conditions Monday at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute after he was attacked and robbed over the weekend during one of the six-mile pre-dawn walks he had been making to stay in shape.

Brandon Joseph Current, 24, of the 200 block of Shinn Road, was arrested at home shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday on charges of robbery with aggravated battery and aggravated battery of a victim older than 65, Port St. Lucie police Detective Joseph Norkus said in a report. (more…)
