Port St. Lucie retiree tries to go upside ‘lazy’ son’s head with a baseball bat, police report

PORT ST. LUCIE — Police arrested a retired man accused of grabbing a baseball bat during a confrontation with his son and saying he was “going to hit him upside the head,” according to recently released records.

Dennis Janowicz, 64, faces a felony aggravated assault charge following the Saturday incident at his listed address in the 300 block of Southeast Lancaster Avenue.

The victim, Janowicz’s 45-year-old son, told police that Janowicz came in his bedroom and started yelling.

Hobe Sound man accused of breaking into ex-girlfriend’s house, choking her

HOBE SOUND — The first time he likely snuck in through the garage door. The second, he hurled himself through the woman’s bedroom window.

That’s what Martin County Sheriff’s deputies said happened before they were alerted that Hobe Sound resident Michael F. Gearde had broken into his ex-girlfriend’s house early this morning.

Gearde, 44, now faces felony charges of armed burglary, aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

The woman told deputies she was in her room when Gearde appeared holding a knife.

When she tried to flee, Gearde allegedly grabbed her and kicked her. Eventually the woman’s mother came in and the two were able to get Gearde to leave, according to a sheriff’s report. (more…)

A Fort Pierce woman is accused of using a gun to threaten a boy she believed was bothering her son.

Warmesha C. Henry told St. Lucie County sheriff’s deputies she was tired of kids on Cherokee Avenue messing with her children, and admitted she carried her gun to the 2700 block of Cherokee and confronted one boy.

The 9-year-old boy said Henry, 32, came over to his house at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday and accused him of pushing her son, according to sheriff’s officials. Henry then pointed the gun at him and threatened to kill him, he said.

A witness reported that Henry had waived her gun around in the air before driving away.

Henry was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assault and was released from the St. Lucie County jail on Wednesday on $2,500 bond.

FORT PIERCEPolice arrested one of their own employees after they say she was caught feeding information to a jailed gang member to help intimidate witnesses in his pending jury trial.

Ebony Baret, 28, was a community service aide who worked with the Fort Pierce Police Department since late 2001.

She was arrested today after a joint investigation by police and the 19th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office revealed she was using department equipment to tip off gang members about the department’s operations, Chief Sean Baldwin said. (more…)

PORT ST. LUCIE — A repo man called police to report he was threatened with a pistol while he was trying to repossess a pick-up truck this morning.

The man told police he was trying to verify the vehicle identification number of a white Ford pick-up truck parked outside of a home in the 5400 block of Northwest Bolin Street when Daniel Lopez threatened him with a pistol shortly before 2 a.m. (more…)
