Depressed jobless man points gun at wife, self, pulls trigger
Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 by TCPalm.comFORT PIERCE — A 49-year-old man accused of pointing a stolen gun at his wife before putting the weapon to his head and repeatedly pulling the trigger was arrested after St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputies hit him with a special, bean bag firing shotgun, according to an arrest affidavit released Monday.
Aaron L. Clark, of the 4900 block of Southwind Trail, faces charges including aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, grand theft stolen firearm and battery in connection with the 1 a.m. Saturday incidents.
Clark’s wife told deputies that Clark has been depressed over the loss of his job. She said she heard a truck pull up behind her home and heard two apparent gunshots, but “thought nothing of it,” the affidavit states.
About a half hour later she heard something on the back patio and found her husband. He reportedly pointed a gun at her, which she pushed away.
“At this point he placed the gun to his head and pulled the trigger,” the affidavit states. “She said the gun did not go off and wasn’t obviously loaded because he pulled the trigger ‘a bunch of times.’”
