VERO BEACH — A baseball-related organization is reportedly close to signing a five-year agreement for the use of Dodgertown.
County officials are declining to release the name of the proposed new tenant, although county officials previously met with Minor League Baseball President Pat O’Conner about the facility.
While the deal expected does not involve a Major League team, it leaves open the possibility of one using Holman Stadium for spring training in the future.

You don’t have to win Home & Garden Television’s green home in Port St. Lucie to get an up-close look at the hydroponic garden and solar-power system.
The house, at the Tradition development, will be open for public tours April 20-June 6. Tickets are $15.
The domestic cable network built the 2,430-square-foot home for its second annual green home giveaway contest.
It’s one of a handful in Florida that has received platinum-level certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.

In the series “Ya never know who your neighbor is,” here come Vera Davie.
She’s the first wife of the punk-rock legend Dee Dee Ramone, as in The Ramones.
And she lives on a quiet Port St. Lucie street. This, after touring for years with the famously out-of-control singers of I Wanna Sedated.
Now Davie, 55, and a book publisher are being sued in a Manhattan court by the executor of her dead ex’s estate. The executor doesn’t want her book about Dee Dee published.

JENSEN BEACH — The downtown Jensen Beach bar scene has been a little quieter than usual lately.
A rule limiting noise at entertainment venues passed last month to give Martin County residents some peace and quiet. But it’s also giving a financial migraine to live music bars, specifically ones with outdoor entertainment such as Crawdaddy’s and JB Pip’s Tiki Bar and Grill in Jensen Beach.
“We just had our 10-year anniversary, and this is by far the biggest blow we’ve had,” Crawdaddy’s owner Mark Kren said. “It’s like a stake in my heart.”

Bill Cosby opened his show Saturday night before a full house at the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce with a riff on the city. When the audience was unable to tell him wherefore the fort or its size, he made it clear “This is not special class.”
The audience roared. And roared throughout the hour and 45-minute show, talking back to the comedian, clapping and apparently having a good time.
Cosby, 71, built his show around Thanksgiving, which seemed a bit odd in the middle of March. Delivered from a chrome and leather chair positioned center stage, he railed against vegetarians who insist on eating foods that “taste like” instead of vegetables.
