Cyclist says man in electric wheelchair chased her around Fort Pierce parking lot for three days

The victim earlier this week told Fort Pierce police she was on her bicycle when Harry Lee Gray “charged her in his electric wheelchair” at an address in the 600 block of Avenue B, according to a recently released arrest affidavit.
She said Gray purposely crashed into her leg and bicycle, knocking her off. Further, she said he picked up the bike, which her late father gave her, and “slammed” it down, causing the front tire to come off.
“(The victim) stated that Gray has chased her for the last three days around the parking lot, but she never called the police,” an affidavit states.
Gray, who police said appeared “very intoxicated,” denied doing anything. He then offered the woman money to repair the bike.
The affidavit didn’t state what made investigators suspect Gray was intoxicated or what may have sparked the alleged electric wheelchair assault.
Witnesses said they saw Gray knock the victim from the bicycle before picking it up and slamming it down.
“It should be noted that Gray is not wheelchair bound, and he can walk for a short distance,” the affidavit states.
Gray, of the 600 block of Avenue B in Fort Pierce, was arrested on misdemeanor battery and criminal mischief charges.

Hey Allamerican…those electric wheelchairs move pretty fast…I tried to turn at a street corner and thought I would have plenty of time..this woman came charging across the street in her chair and gave me some very dirty looks… I learned my lesson that day…Don’t mess with a person in an electric wheelchair..

Hands down…..this is the most ridiculous story I’ve ever read. Should be titled “Dumb and Dumber” because I am thinking that after the first and second encounter with a character from “Deliverance” the victim would avoid the area….or at least reported the prior incidents.

Duane, what about the story that I missed would indicate that the victim is ugly? We know the perp is ugly cause we can see his really awful face. But the victim? I don’t get it. Oh wait, you’re just a misogynist looking to blame women for anything you can. You’re a puke.
As for everyone who thinks SHE was the stupid or inept or ‘deserving-victim’ one…..Here’s a possible scenario for you: She works in a store which is near his home, and she rides her bike to work every day. Since her schedule is well-defined, he knows when to be there if he wants to harass her, whatever his delusional reasoning may be. Because she’s a good bit younger than he is and certainly more agile (evidenced by the fact that she can ride a bike), she assumes that he will either stop his harassment or that she can always elude him, especially since he is intoxicated when he chases her. However, on this day, he shows up a little less intoxicated, and hides somewhere along her route which leads her to believe that he has given up his obsession. Suddenly, he surprises her by popping out from behind something, and she can’t escape his assault.
Please try to give people a little credit when you don’t know the facts. And no, I don’t know her, don’t live anywhere near Ft. Pierce (thank goodness), and read the same thing you did. Some of your conclusions are mind-bogglingly mean-spirited.

I am curious about the reason he chased her in the first place. Did she do or say something to him that made him so angry with her that he was compelled to chase her? This story is full of unasked and unanswered questions. I wish more journalists would concentrate on giving a complete reporting of a story than just going for a headline.

Look folks, when some jack@ss is harassing you, don’t let him get away with it. As the old, but very true, saying goes, ‘make him get his shirt dirty doing it and he will stop doing it’.
