Stokie, Ill. man killed on U.S. 441 in Martin County
February 20th, 2011 by TCPalm.comMARTIN COUNTY — A 48-year-old Stokie, Ill., man died after being struck by a pickup truck Saturday night, after he climbed from the cab of a semi-tractor to help its driver back into a driveway.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that Vasile Rusz was on the ground in the 16000 block of U.S. 441 around 9:35 p.m., and the semi was straddling both lanes of the highway, when a southbound pickup driven by Jorge I. Betancourt, 51, of Hialeah, swerved onto the southwest grass shoulder to avoid hitting the semi. The pickup hit Rusz and the semi before colliding with a barb wire fence and coming to a stop.
Troopers report that Betancourt and his passenger, Eduardo Hernandez Jr., of Pembroke Pines, sustained minor injuries.
The semi’s driver, Dumitru D. Puscas, 35, of Park Ridge, Ill., was uninjured.
The accident is under investigation.

All of my heart goes to the entire family, with love and support I greatly regret this tragedy, words cannot touch the suffering souls of the wife and children and a beautiful granddaughter, we are all here for all of you with anything that is in our power. He was loved by many, helped many, and was the spirit and heart of laughter at all of our gatherings, a wonderful uncle, brave and caring that will be missed by each single one of us. God may rest his soul in peace!
