Woman finds sleeping pills in ground beef purchased at Wal-Mart in Indian River County

August 13th, 2010 by TCPalm.com

By Elliott Jones

SEBASTIAN — Arlene Kahn was breaking apart clumps of commercially produced ground beef when she found two medical pills inside, she said.

She stopped her preparations for beef stroganoff and headed back to a Walmart Super Center in Sebastian, where she purchased the fresh meat at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The two 25 mg blue pills have since been identified as a sleep aid.

She called police, who accompanied her into the store at 6:30 p.m. as she met with two store officials. They told her Walmart doesn’t package its own meat, she said, but that it comes from another company.

The officials refunded the $15 she paid for the meat And she was given a $40 gift card.

Police said they couldn’t do anything further unless someone was poisoned, she said.

Now, Kahn wants other people to know what happened and for Walmart to check the beef it is selling. She filed an online complaint with the nationwide company.

“This may be an isolated incident or maybe not,” she said. “That is my concern.”

Sebastian Police Officer Erica Agius’ report says the store’s co-manager, William Bales, planned to contact the corporation’s Alarm Central.

On Thursday, police spokesman Officer Steve Marcinik, said Walmart officials are calling on their packaged ground meat supplier in Georgia to look into the matter.

Local store officials on Thursday referred media calls to the corporate office, which did not return a call seeking comment.

Kahn found the pills in an uncooked portion of the meat she was preparing to freeze. She didn’t see any in the meat she cooked, but she threw that out.

Sebastian police have the pills in case they are needed to help find how they got into the meat. But Marcinik said his agency isn’t doing a criminal investigation.

  4. Josie K Says:

Hey seagril, are you really that much of an IDIOT? This woman or her family (possibly children) could have been poisoned. This is a very serious matter. You should find something like that in your food. I bet you’d be crying up a storm. Yours was a typical “CONSEVATIVE PARTY” response. When we are all eating, drinking and breathing crap which is not controlled by inspections, and yes lawsuits if necessary, we will have regressed to the early 1900s in our quality of life.
AGAIN, SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR RESPONSE!

  5. Missy Says:

Sounds like another Wendy’s scam to me.

  6. seadog14 Says:

Josie K: If you knew the amount of dirt and krap that is allowed by the Federal Government in your food you may stop eating–I agree with seagril: We just bought hamburger meat from Wal-mart and made meat loaf with it, sorry no little blue pills in it. I get tired of these “redneck” tricks to try to get “easy money” off of companies, we in turn suffer higher prices to cover the costs of lawsuits and the like. Your response is a typical Republican outburst that is negative and full of hate. Everyone has the right to their opinion, period. My opinion of you is quite low, you just had to turn this story into a political mud slinging fest.

  7. Missy Says:

This reminds me a lot of the finger in the chili thing we had a few years back. :/

  8. Ann Wood Says:

It is interesting to note some of the responses to the woman’s
mishap with hamburger from Wal-Mart. No mention was made
of a law suit, the woman simply got her money back and
a $40.00 gift certificate; hardly wealth gathering but the
“Faux” News comments immediately attacked saying she was
trying to “get easy money.” This explains why some folk
are so easily duped by Glen Beck, and his gay guy
cohort, Limbaugh – they not only ignore the facts, they
invent a story to match their paranoia. I have lived 82 years in all kinds of political climates – nothing compares
with the Oligarch we have today.

  9. Jennifer Says:

    Josie,
I agree with you. This could very well be someone going through the experience but do to the length others have taking just to get some money, hardly anyone will be listening thinking its nothing but a scam. Seadog and Seagril I also agree with you to a point. We all can express our OWN OPINIONS, however remmeber theres two sides to every story, Instead of fighting about whos right or wrong why dont we focus on our families and keeping them safe from something like this.

  10. Amber Says:

This DOES sound like she was trying to pull a scam.

On one hand, it’s a bad economy and she probably needs money, and was desperate.

On the other hand, yup, just like the Wendy’s incident (which happened in my city) it seems too odd that something like this happened. Too bad the story doesn’t indicate wether or not the pills were in perfect shape, or if they carried a mutulated look like they were near a meat grinder.

Also, what kind of person makes beef stroganoff with GROUND beef? Seriously? The story mentions that there is no active investigation going on. That leads me to believe that even the police don’t buy her story. If anything, they are probably quietly checking HER out.

  11. Ricardo Cabeza Says:

If the “blue pills” had been Viagra I bet she would have fed hubby an extra portion of stroganoff and had a “happy ending” to the meal!

  12. Jenn Says:

I feel bad for this poor woman. Seriously what would you do if it was to happen to you and no one wanted to believe you due to what others have done. Seriously would she honestly call the cops if it wasn’t for real? Wow and you all are talking about lawsuits when the article only mentions $15 for the meat and $40 gift card… WOW thats a lot!!! I would have given her more for having to go through that. What if she hadn’t noticed it and ate it. Something could have gone seriously wrong. She or someone else could have had a negative reaction to the pills. Try putting yourself into someone elses shoes for once. Not everyone is what you’ve been calling “REDNECKS” trying to get rich.

  13. jffds Says:

josie k – sounds like you are the idiot to me

  14. jffds Says:

only an idiot would assume a politial bent of an unknown person

  15. Chandra Says:

Walmart has questionable standards anyway & this type of thing happens too often but is covered up by the stores public relations folks & high paid corporate lawyers. They try to make the victim seem like the bad guy or a crook looking to make a buck when in reality someone does need to pay & not hush this up.Over the last year or so i remember hearing about other Walmart brand items like the tainted peanut butter & such. What happened to that?Too many tainted items showing up at all Walmart facilities.Too cheap to care.Won’t pay adequate store employees or customer service so i’m guessing meat & other processing & packaging plants are the cheapest ones too.Look at walmart tainted food reports by store or just the name & see how many reports that are dangerous but just die dowm after a while.

  16. Fred Flintstone Says:

Who buys ground beef at Wal-mart?? Their prices are extremely high. You can get much better quality beef at Costco.

  17. cjames Says:

Forget about the sleeping pills. Do she know how many growth hormones are in that beef already. If she did, she’d probably throw up.

  18. Jamie Says:

I saw this and thought wow!! Once about 5 years ago my husband and i got a bottle of pepsi and it had a toothpick in it.. and the toothpick was brown like it had been in there for a long time.. We had no clue how that could have happened knowing it was a new bottle, weird. we just threw it away..

  19. Betsy Says:

Would the pills not have been partially dissolved by the liquid in the meat by the time it got to the store and was put out for sale? Tablet or capsule, either one would have started to disintegrate unless they were placed there at the store (not likely) or at her house (more likely). And lawsuits take time to get all the information together so look for that pretty soon.

  20. AllMyMoneyGoesToWallyWorld Says:

Well I have never found pills in my ground beef from Walmart, but I can tell you that I regularly take back their fruits, vegetables and milk. They let the milk get warm and then they put it in the store refrigerator and you can taste it is off. Fruits and vegetables look fine on the out side, but when you cut them open or bite into them it is a whole other story. I used to just throw them out until it started to get too expensive. Now I take everything back for a refund. The perils of living in a small town without options.

  21. pitipat Says:

Thank you, jffds, I too say what does any of this have to do with politics?????????????? Dumb

  22. mdizzie Says:

Someone who is living pay check to pay check shops at Walmart and buys their meat. Do you think she wants to shop at WALMART? They have websites about the people who shop at Walmart. First, they use child labor, force competition to lower their prices to dirt pay, and still don’t pay their workers fairly. I don’t think shes after millions here people. She was a worried patron that didn’t want this happening to anyone else. I think that if there were pills in the meat, it was someones sick joke at the packaging plant. Which trust me, I know a lot of people in fast food and packaging, and a lot of them don’t care. And Walmart orders their meats from other COUNTIES!!! NASTY!!! That means that its shipped here, frozen, and it takes up to 2 weeks before that food makes it to a store shelf. Gross.

This woman should learn a lesson here, no matter what you are going through or how bad times are for you and yours, don’t buy cheap meat and food, from Walmart. For many reasons like the ones mentioned above, but because its nasty low rate food. That’s the lowest of the low of grocery meat, produce and diary. I would rather shop at Aldies Outlet than Walmart. I would rather remove my kidney with a plastic knife than give Walmart any of my money. Have not shopped with them in over 5 years and will not ever again.

I found maggots in their salmon. Enough said. I got a gift card too and I trashed it before I left. Thanks for almost making me sick.

  23. Jack P Says:

Sounds “rotten” to me. What’s her lawyer’s name?

  24. Whatsup Says:

Whats up with her calling the police to go into the store with her??? I have to agree with those who are raising the “Wendy’s finger in the chile” alarm. If she wasn’t headed toward a lawsuit, why would she ask for the police to meet her OUTSIDE the store and accompany her inside. Also, if the police really thought it had merit, don’t you think there would be a criminal investigation? It would be negligent of them to ignore any credible notice of criminal actions like someone putting sleeping pills in raw meat.

  25. alright Says:

The “pills” would have been starting to dissolve if they were in the meat more than 10-15 minutes!!!! Put a pill in your mouth wait 1-2 minutes and pull it out and see how much is already starting to happen!!!

  26. thepostsuxx Says:

That’s what happens when u eat dead animals.

  27. Jon Says:

Her first mistake was shopping at Wal-Mart, her second mistake is buying crap.

  28. righttrack Says:

The family would NOT have been “poisoned”, they would have eaten dinner, felt a little sleepy, and headed for bed. It’s no different than the milions of parents who feed their kids Ritalin every day, just so they don’t have to deal with their kids acting like kids.

  29. STEVE Says:

EVERYONE SHOULLD READ BETSY’S REPLY(# 19)AND ALRIGHT’S( #25) BECAUSE THATS EXACTLY WHAT WOULD HAPPEN-EVEN THE MEAT WOULD HAVE BLUE TRACES ON IT FROM THE PILLS COATING,UNLESS THE MEAT WAS BONE DRY, WHICH I SERIOUSLY DOUBT. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER SCAM, FOLKS.

  30. C Says:

This is a joke. What cow would take sleeping pills? Perhaps an anti psychotic drug but that is only in the case of mad cow disease.

  31. AceVentura Says:

All you people need to get a life and stop calling the kettle black. There are many people that would starve if it wasn’t for WalMart. I myself (since the economy fell) have had to shop at WalMart, not that I enjoy it but if you shop carefully you can get safe cheap food. And who are you to say this woman is trying to rip off the store, were you there, are you a mind reader, no? then shut the hell up and examine your own life, “He who be without sin, cast the 1st stone”.

  32. JULIO Says:

I WOULD OF GAVE THAT TO MY IN LAWS AND CALLED IT A DAY

  33. rabbit1057 Says:

I’m crying after reading the comments…you guys are too funny!!!

  34. maggiemay Says:

There are some honest people still out there !! I don’t believe this was done by Mrs. kahn , and the company who packaged the beef should pull all the meats that was send out from that batch , from all locations !! Just because the pills did not disolve doesn’t mean they where not put in the product at the shipping plant. Pills are made will different types of coating on them . It would depend on the moisture in the package and the temp the meat was chilled at. SOME HAMBURG HAS HARDLEY ANY MOISTURE ! The Kahns are a very established and successful family . To acuse Arlene of this is horrible .Thank you for bringing this to everyone attention Arlene kahn . Maybe if everyone did there jobs (Sebastian Police Dept)and the management team at Walmart, it would never have gone this far !!! She already stated she didn’t want to sue ! Do you people know how to read ? Because you sure know how to condem !!!!

  35. helen Says:

AMEN to Josie!!!! This is a little bit of a differnt circumstance, but my husband and I purchased meat from Wal-Mart, and it was so spoiled, and stunk so bad, we didn’t know what to do with it. I think seagril should do one or all of these things. 1. Go eat contaminated meat. 2. go take a nutrition course to see that NOONE should eat anything suspicious. 3. (which happens to be my fav. choice for seagril) GET A LIFE!!!!! Not ONE thing was even mentioned about Mrs.Kahn suing Wal-Mart…. Now had she taken it back to the store and they refused to give her a refund. ( and had the police not been there they may not have ) then I could see suing! But she got her money back and the issue is being investigated! So leave it be!

  36. UNDREE Says:

WHY WOULD YOU HAVE A SLEEPING PILL WHILE WORKING……..UNLESS YOU WERE GOING TO PUT IT IN THE BOSSES COFFEE AND FORGOT AND HAD TO GET RID OF IT…SEEM LIKE TO ME YOU WOULD BE TRYING TO STAY UP THIS SOUND LIKE A GRAVE YARD SHIFT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO WAS GET YOU A RED BULL AND YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE……….

  37. madamx Says:

For those of you who are clearly not in the medical profession some pills require stomach acid to dissolve, not simply any type of liquid. So depending on the pills, there is no absolute that the pills would dissolve. Some fool in Wal Mart probably thought this would be funny and dumped them in there. There are always ripped and open packages in Wal Mart.

  38. efilwen888 Says:

I agree with post #25. I am not Wal-Mart fan but this story sounds fishy.

  39. Jose Feleciano Says:

you assholes quit calling one another republicans. it only shows you to be democrats. with sick, twisted minds.

  40. Sharon K Says:

I work for a law firm and you would be surprised at what length people go to bring attention to themselves and get money. If you don’t believe it, then wait until you get your bills for insurance premiums and you will see that your premiums have gone up. That’s what happens every time someone files a claim or lawsuit — we eventually pay for it. I don’t believe for one minute that she found two pills in the hamburger. The economy is desperate and people are doing desperate things. While you heard of what she did immediately and what Wal-Mart did immediately, you will probably never hear about what will happen later. Any lawsuit that would be filed would be frivolous because nothing was ingested. This has nothing to do with being redneck or being conservative or being a Republican. If you don’t believe it happens, get a job in a law firm defending companies and you will see at what length people go to get money. That’s why people are so skeptical about a story like this.

  41. Mike123 Says:

Guess what I did a test, bought 1lb of meat and stuck 1 Asprin, 1 vitamin and 1 of my BP bills pills put in fridge over night and all of them were mush in the morning, I would have never noticed them if I did not know were I stuck them. And I am a free thinking Independant for those who are so political here!

  42. Becky Says:

I work at Wal-Mart and I have been there for 15yrs and you people who say you don’t like Wal-Mart are the ones we see shopping in there almost everyday! There are people who will try anything for a quick buck especially knowing Wal-Mart is a billion dollar company but there is also people who are honest! So you people who keep trashing Wal-Mart and Mrs.Kahn why don’t you get a life or a job Wal-Mart is always hiring.

  43. Becky Says:

Did you not read the comment from madamx if you are not in the medical field some pills require stomach acid to dissolve it said some not all so Mike123 get a job or a life you idiot.

WOW Becky! I was supporting Walmart, and I do have a job and bet I make 10x what you do at Walmart!

But you must be a Democrate and have no brains to know the difference of support and blame

  48. Pebbles Says:

First off coming from someone who has worked in grocery stores including the deli and the meat dept. for about 8 years I can tell you this the consumers dont pay attention to dates on products , the feel or touch of something that should be cold or anything else for that matter. The Police in this situation could be some lil rinky dinky station that get paid minimum wage ~ like in my hometown! These cops do nothing at all when it comes to something like this so to berate this woman is a joke on all of you.
When my boss would get a itch that the state was coming in to check the store we would be made to do the pull and hide…. hmmm what does that entail you ask? Well we start in the wic area Baby food formula etc would be checked for the dates some outdated by a year or 2 would be pulled and put in grocery carts and hidden in a truck outback to later be restocked.
The deli area ~ them rotisserie chickens you all love so much come in a frozen box if the workers would forget to let it thaw it would get dumped in a sink with hot water and let them soak for a hour until you could break them apart. The stuff made in the deli would be outdated meats or cheeses, the rotten fruit do you get what im saying here .If you have bought anything from antipasta salads premade them buckets or bowls can sit there for weeks without being washed and they are just topped off daily.
As far as the packaging areas you would be a fool not to think someone had there meds sitting out to take and accidentally or put in thier as a cruel prank. You do not think they dont have people who are quitting who have had enough to sit there and do that pleaseeeeeeeee.

Also before anyone says anything the stuff I have listed that does go on in the supermarkets has gone on in every store, I have also reported these stores for these issues and I as a consumer check everything from the dates to how cold something should be and I return anything at all times that isnt up to par.

  53. Cook Says:

Honestly, I smell “scam” here. First she said she was using that portion of meat to cook, then she says she was preparing it to freeze. She went back to the store with the PILLS, not the meat, at 1:30pm. 5 hours later, after not getting anything the first time, she returned with the police. It is then that she gets her freebies. Like others have stated, the pills would have began to dissolve and more than likly not been in very good shape. I see these little scams all the time at the mall when I’m waiting in the checkout. I’ve seen it first hand when I worked in sales. The people that pull these quick, slick, sceams take very little from several locations. That’s why they don’t get questioned. If this was to have happened at the processing center, the pills would be damaged. If it happened at the store, the package would have been opened somewhere. I feel we won’t hear anymore on this since she’s satisfied with her $55. But honestly, I think the pills came from home. I will agree that this is no laughing matter, but if people keep crying wolf, people will stop listening when the real thing does occur.

  54. Cook Says:

BTW: I worked in the medical field before being a full-time mom. Sleeping pills do not need stomach acid to start dissolving. The moisture in the meat would be enough. Also remember, that meat is not frozen or stored as cold as we tend to store it at home. So the heat would also help with the process. Needless to say, there should have been some sort of visible change to the pills. And you are right, the two pills wouldn’t have hurt and average sized, healthy adult. But a child or someone on other meds could have been severly effected.

  55. marian Says:

There is something that my father used to say…”better keep your mouth shut and be thought to be stupid, than to open it and remove all doubt”…All those awful accusations are very telling…Remember that…. try to find some compassion in that heart before you lose any chance of really experiencing life….. Stop and smell the Coffee there

  56. maybe not a hoax/scam folks Says:

Probably the same company I dealt with. I found a huge sharp tooth in my ground beef from Walmart. I was disappointed in the lack of interest from government agencies unwilling to do anything about it. They told me MANY people would have to be harmed first…

  57. Peachlet Says:

Wow, really? Just because a person has their opinion about this story immediately they’re labeled as conservative, or as being ‘duped by Glenn Beck’. Well I’d say that’s a typical ranting Dem with little respect for public opinion and free speech. I am conservative, I’ve listened to Glenn Beck. Yet I would be tempted to believe the woman’s story. I don’t see any mention of a lawsuit, just someone taking a product back that could have caused harm to her family and getting a $40 gift card. Anything can happen. So how does a story like this spur idiotic politically charged accusations because someone doesn’t see it as true???? I see it as true, and I’m a conservative…so what’s your accusation now? Come on. Show me your IQ.

  58. klondiko Says:

It always amazes me how many people are so quick to bash a hugely successful American corporation. Someone sure shops there.

  59. Deb Says:

If the pills were in the beef they would have melted by the time it was packaged and sent to a walmart. They put so much water in the meat no way those pills would have been solid by the time she got it home. It’s common sense pills are made to melt or they wouldn’t work. But she had the pills in hand to show the store. I’m sorry but with the nature of pills that would be impossible.

  60. Teresa Says:

Of course it could happen. I believe this woman probable did find something in that meat. And look at what she got out of it! 40 bucks! That may of paid her gas money to run all over the county and back to wal-mart. If I was in her position, I would of done the exact same thing because I would of also been concerned of someone accidently eating whatever was in that meat. So kudos to her….she did the right thing. In this day it is hard to do the right thing because everyone has a different opinion on what the right thing is. But trying to keep others from potential harm IS the right thing…and that isn’t an opinion.

  61. Becky Says:

Double WOW Mike123! I never said you was blaming Wal-Mart so get out your glasses and read again and further more I am not a Democrat or a Republican so there for it must be a life you need if you actually do have a job. And Sassy I do work for the Wal-Mart in Springfield where that incident happened and to bad you can’t see the surviellance video of that so unless you can or you was there keep your comments to your self because your probably one of those customers who complain about Wal-Mart and we see you in there 7 days a week 2 or 3 times a day and for your information we are associates not employees because associates are family employees are people who just have a job and your boss could care less about you. Peace out and have a good day

  62. pupsrule Says:

Yah (AllMyMoneyGoesToWallyWorld) you are probally one of those people that let your fruit and vegs sit around for weeks then you take them back and say they were bad when you bought them you are just like everyone else that dont need things anymore and just want to make a buck so they go and lie to the stores to get money back not knowing every time you do that you just make the prices go up after awhile they have to get back the money somehow oh and how about that milk are you constantly watching walmart how do you know they leave the milk out and let it get warm i know for a fact that walmart does not do that you need to get your facts straight before commenting on others over stupid crap.

  63. hot peanuts Says:

i so agree with you Becky #42 I too work for Wal-Mart and if thease people would see what we see as Wal-Mart associates then maybe they would understand all the stupid idiotodic crap people do for a buck.

Whats wrong with you?? by the way, I live in Texas, and yes I shop at walmart and the local stores, I have found weave hair in my campbells soup, mice/rat feces in my rice, something I could not ID in my spaghetti sauce, some were bought at walmart some locally, moral of the story, unless you grow it yourself, you have no idea what others put in what you eat, I’m sure there are plenty of you who stratch your bum, then go on making dinner, or wipe your nose with your hand, and shake someone else’s without even thinking about it, does that make you a redneck?

Calm down, its a story that was reported, she doesn’t seem like she’s going to get a million for it, and maybe we’ll take a look at our food a little closer next time, oh and by the way, she could have been use hamburger helper for the stroganoff you twit.

Does this guys agency, which I believe is the Sherrif’s Dept.,have too many other pressing matters to investigate?

The general public are lying, theiving, nasty people. I work in the service industry and so many people want it for free. It is truly sickening. People are complete slobs.

  71. Mark Says:

I shop at walmart all the time and have taken back food that was outdated (which is my fault for not checking) or dated but on the rotten side. They do not lose any money on anything brought back and thrown in the trash. One of my friends was a city inspector and he told me restaurants are allowed a certain number of cockroaches, mice or mouse droppings. I’m sure walmart is the same. The rotisserie chickens at the walmarts I shop at are cooked in the store and do not come precooked and thawed at the store. I agree that the pills should have dissolved some, if not completely. Two things that I have found that were really sick were a chick in an egg that I cracked and feathers on one of the chickens.

  72. JeffyW Says:

I didn’t read every post but most of them. I can’t believe out of all the anti anything libs, no one has blamed Bush yet. I just know he did it! If she was breaking it up, it was most likely one of those 5 lb packages with a photo of beef on it that you can’t see through. Which means that she was probably on food stamps, which were just cut by Democrats in order to pay the teachers unions 26 billion in Obama’s latest attempt to prop up socialism. She no doubt planted these pills and as soon as police check her medicine cabinet, they will find an Rx bottle minus 2 pills……..case closed.

Hey wait a minute, I wonder who else she’s tried to KAHN?

  76. Danny Says:

I agree with all the people who are saying this is a scam. If she had really found the pills in her hamburger she would have never settled for the refund and the gift card. If someone put myself or my family at risk I wouldnt settle for just a gift card. I would want them throughly checked out, and I would be expecting someone to answer to it. This doesnt have anything to do with redneck or politics its just another example of what people will do to get something for nothing…even if it is just a 40.00 gift card and a refund on ground beef.

  77. KarenT Says:

How does she know they were sleeping pills if they could not be identified by police and just taken into custody??? You all are right they would have dissolved since Walmart injects their meat with preservatives to make it last longer. I have not been in a Walmart in 5 years and have NEVER bought their meat when I did go in. Good Luck Gold Digger as by the time the Police process them they will be dust!!!

  78. Lisa Says:

    @Danny…..

Not true, I found a finger nail in a box of store brand cereal once. I simply took the box back for a refund.

Even one better, had just left McDonalds, took a bite of my chicken wrap and out came SEVERAL strands of very long red hair.

Again took it back for a refund (passed on the replacement) believe it or not there are still some very good and patient people out here.

  79. Michael Says:

@Karen…..if she’s not suing exactly how does that make her a gold digger? Like someone said $40 is hardly anything to quit your job over, she probably spent that in gas.

Wow, maybe she should have just thrown it away and called it a day. Seems like you get more grief trying to look out for others in this day and age.

  80. Monique Says:

Ok to the guy who said he didnt read all the comments and was shocked at the “Bush did it” etc. Then turns around and says the womans on foodstamps, are you for real! Wow, just wow.

  81. Carol Says:

I found a hunk of wood in a pizza roll once- mailed it to the company and got a coupon for a free box. Sounds suspicious to me, wonder if they were over-the-counter or prescription sleep aids? Were they partly dissolved or fresh? Did she think the meat was not the best so she wanted to return it? Why sleep aids? Why not something more realistic like rocks? Maybe they were in someone’s pocket that was working through the processing. Who would have the nerve to fake something like this? Too weird.

I do shop at Wal-Mart occasionally and have had no problems with quality. Maybe it depends on the location.
