Several burglaries of cars in beach access parking lots have been reported in the past few weeks, investigators in St. Lucie and Martin counties said.
In one such case, a credit card stolen from a locked car July 1 at Waveland Beach on Hutchinson Island was used to buy items in Palm Beach County, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators said surveillance video at one of the stores identified a white female with blonde hair wearing a white shirt and blue jeans as a suspect. She was seen driving a late model red Chevrolet sports-utility vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
In one of several beachside burglaries reported in Martin County, a credit card was taken by a burglar who smashed through a window of a car parked at Sea Turtle Beach on Hutchinson Island on July 1, authorities said. The card was used to buy $372 worth of merchandise at a Target store in Jensen Beach, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said.
The suspects seen on surveillance video were two men in their late 20s, the sheriff’s office said. One, who wore a black ball cap, blue clothing and white sneakers, was described as 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds. The other suspect was described as 5-foot-10, 220 pounds and wore a white shirt and black pants.
