Home invaders take cash, prescription drugs in Fort Pierce

January 29th, 2010 by TCPalm.com

FORT PIERCE — Police are investigating a Thursday home invasion armed robbery in which cash and prescription drugs were reported stolen by about three assailants, according to a report.

An officer was dispatched about 1:20 a.m. to an address in the 4500 block of Timber Ridge Lane and spoke to the victims — two women and a man.

One victim said all three were sleeping in the master bedroom when the assailants came in, yelling, “Where are the drugs,” and, “Give me the money.” She said one assailant hit her with a rifle before they lifted the mattress and found a purse with painkillers and money.

A second victim said she’d been “pistol whipped.” She pointed to the mattress when they asked where the drugs were. She said the stolen purse contained about 196 painkiller pills and 56 anti-anxiety Xanax pills, which she said were prescribed to her, and $100.

The male victim said one of the women was struck with a rifle and the other with a handgun. Two of the victims are 35 and the other is 26.

Police reported that it looked like the assailants forced their way through the front door.

The three said there were about three assailants and that they wore dark clothes. The victims said the robbers concealed their faces.

One of the victims said an older laptop computer also was taken.
