This is why elderly people should not be able to obtain a driver’s license and/or drive unless they have very thorough eye and ear exams as well as their mental capacity is good, i.e. no dementia, alzheimer’s, etc., and that they have adequate reactional capabilities, i.e. that their physical and mental condition does not detrimentally slow their reaction time. The government and families should provide more adequate, safe and timely transportation services for those who cannot safely drive.

Apparently c/r doesn’t drive. Otherwise he/she would see the real threat is not the elderly but teenagers and adults.
I travel the interstate daily and watch these people stuffing their faces, applying makeup, texting, e- mailing, reading newspapers, novels, maps, browsing through catalogs, dressing and even sex. Yes, sex, miisionary style, girl on top while the male was driving.
Don’t point a finger because your probably guilty of one or more of the above.

I agree with both above post. When you are in your 80’s its a fact your eyesight hearing and judgment really slows down. This can become deadly behind the wheel of a car and the elderly need to get rechecked to make sure they are ok to drive for the safety of themselfs and others on the road. I think letting a 15yr old drive is to young as well.
