360 sex offenders live within one mile of St. Lucie public schools; 135 in Martin County

November 13th, 2009 by TCPalm.com

ST. LUCIE COUNTY — There are almost 360 sex offenders living within a mile of St. Lucie County public schools and there are about 135 sex offenders living within a mile of a Martin County public school.

And along the Treasure Coast, almost 670 sex offenders and predators legally live within a mile of local schools as of Oct. 29, a Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers analysis of Florida Department of Law Enforcement data shows. Expanding the search of the FDLE database almost doubles the number in some cases.

The numbers claimed in this story make me think that either we live in a society that is THICK with DEGENERATE, WRETCHED people, or they are classifying people with a very broad brush in order to call them “sex offenders” just so that they can scare the public into thinking that they’re all rapists who lurk behind bushes with knives.

The reality is probably a combination of the two.

some may have just walked out of a bar to urinate in the street. Then they got busted for indecent exposure.

  4. marian Says:

I thought it was the law for sex offenders not to live with in one mile of the schools?? If this is the case, why don’t officers start knocking on some doors?

  5. judgej Says:

    The end is near 2012

  6. randy Says:

i would like to see the sex offenders better defined —————maybe a some kinda definition to see if there offenders toward children——or someone who may have been dating a 17 year old when they were 19 or takin a leak on the side of the road—act

  7. Ray Roddy Says:

It appears the broad consensus here is of an absolute distrust of the system of how we mandate a sexual offender, if indeed it does include peeing in the park or teenage dating, then the act should be rejigged, if it’s not then the state of our society is indeed very disturbing!!!

  8. frank Says:

why should the freakin people be living like a mile a way from public schools instead of jail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! those people are just very sick people

  9. frank Says:

  10. frank Says:

i bet they are already making the ships in china from the movie 2012!
