Port St. Lucie Police looking for man in Walgreens robbery

October 13th, 2009 by TCPalm.com

PORT ST. LUCIE — Police on Monday released photos of a man accused of robbing a Walgreens last week of methadone tablets and are asking for help to find him, according to a release and police records.

The man reportedly entered the store in the 200 block of Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard about 4:50 p.m. Thursday with a blue and white towel over his shoulder.

He walked to the pharmacy counter, though by that time the towel was wrapped around one hand. The man, who is white and thought to be in his mid 40s, wore a camouflage hat, white T-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes.

The man asked for his prescription and said his name was Gary Williams.

The clerk couldn’t find an order with that name. The man, who was shaking and sweating, said he was robbing the store and demanded methadone and oxycodone.

The clerk reportedly was led to think the man had a weapon concealed in the towel. The man left after getting two bottles of methadone.

The man is about 6 feet tall and of medium build.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Brint Black at (772) 344-4314 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at (800) 273-TIPS.
