PORT ST. LUCIE — Police arrested a man after they say he pointed a gun at another man and punched him “a few times” in the head, according to an affidavit released Monday.

The victim went to drop off his two children Sunday at his ex-wife’s home in the 400 block of Southwest Paar Drive, authorities said.

The affidavit gave this account:

Outside the house, the man argued with his ex-wife when a man identified as Tharon Sims, 33, came out the front door with a 9mm handgun. Sims pointed the weapon at the ex-husband, who backed away and told Sims to put down the gun and handle things “man to man.”

Sims, of the 400 block of Southwest Paar Drive, put the gun down and punched the man in the head “a few times.”

Sims, listed as unemployed, told police he came out with a handgun, but denied pointing it at the man. Sims was arrested on a felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge and a misdemeanor battery charge.

The relationship between Sims and the ex-wife was not immediately clear.
