Polk County man arrested after leading Martin deputies on hours long chase

October 7th, 2009 by Post Staff

STUART _ What began as a routine traffic stop ended up being an overnight manhunt for Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Shortly before 2 this morning, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a broken tag light near Northeast Baker Road and Northeast Savannah Road in Stuart.

But David James Donahue-Alayon had other ideas.

The Polk County man, who had outstanding warrant in his home county, exited the front passenger seat and fled into the woods, a Sheriff’s report said. Donahue-Alayon, 21. led Sheriff’s deputies and a Stuart Police K-9 unit on an hours long chase. The chase led through a residential community, a convenience store and an elementary school before he was finally caught hiding in a pond.

He was arrested shortly before 8 a.m. in the 500 block of Northeast Baker Road and charged with burglary, trespass on school property and resisting without violence, the report said.

Another occupant of the vehicle, Pedro Flores, was arrested on an open felony warrant and two other people were released from the scene.

The tail light was INOPERATIVE, not “inoperable.”

Inoperable–look it up, for christ’s sake–means it can’t be operated on, like a tumor deep in the brain. Speaking of which, does the writer of this story have one??

  2. PJay Says:

AMAZINGLY, this piece of shit doesn’t have a tattoo visible on his neck.

He was probably on his way to get one when they went after him.

    nice mugshot asshat!
