Port St. Lucie retiree tries to go upside ‘lazy’ son’s head with a baseball bat, police report

October 6th, 2009 by TCPalm.com

PORT ST. LUCIE — Police arrested a retired man accused of grabbing a baseball bat during a confrontation with his son and saying he was “going to hit him upside the head,” according to recently released records.

Dennis Janowicz, 64, faces a felony aggravated assault charge following the Saturday incident at his listed address in the 300 block of Southeast Lancaster Avenue.

The victim, Janowicz’s 45-year-old son, told police that Janowicz came in his bedroom and started yelling.

Police records give this account:

Janowicz pushed his son and tried to hit him. The son pushed him away and closed the door.

After a few minutes, he heard his father beating on the door. Janowicz said he had a bat and planned to hit his son with it.

The victim’s 63-year-old mother gave a similar account.

Janowicz said he was upset with his son because he wouldn’t help move a television into the yard. Janowicz said he went in the bedroom to “yell at (his son) for being lazy,” before his son pushed him out.

Listed as retired, Janowicz said he wasn’t going to let a 45-year-old person “push him around,” and got an aluminum bat from his van. Janowicz told police he said he was “going to hit him upside the head,” the report states.

Janowicz was arrested and taken to the St. Lucie County jail.

If this guy’s still living off of his parents, the least he can do is help his Dad with the TV! I’d say he deserves a good whack but a baseball bat may be a bit extreme! Maybe the Dad could just spank him next time…

  2. Really? Says:

Hey, the only people to blame for this are the parents. Kick him out… he’s 45 fercryinoutloud. Cut the cord, ma!

  3. BEACHBUM Says:

If Loria reads this he might make THIS guy the new Marlins manager!
