ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A 69-year-old Fort Pierce man learned the hard way there are no clothing-optional beaches in St. Lucie County, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Joseph Robert Romano, of the 1000 block of Century Drive in Fort Pierce, has been charged with loitering/prowling after two women on Friday saw him sitting without clothes on Walton Rocks Beach.

The arrest report gives the following details.

The women told deputies the man was sitting with his legs open and he was watching them walk on the beach.

When deputies questioned Romano he said, “Isn’t this a clothing-optional beach?”

As of Saturday, he had been released from the St. Lucie County Jail.
