Come on down! Stuart resident is the next contestant on ‘The Price is Right’

September 18th, 2009 by TCPalm.com

STUART — Aron Morlan didn’t think he’d even get into the studio audience for “The Price is Right” when he was vacationing with a few friends in California in June.

That same day, the 27-year-old Stuart resident was guessing the price of a diamond watch, spinning the giant wheel looking for that elusive $1 tile, and giving host Drew Carey a bear hug.

“My friend just starts shaking me because they held up a cue card with my name, then they called my name,” Morlan said. “It was crazy.”

Morlan’s run on “The Price is Right” game show will air on CBS Tuesday at 11 a.m. And though he can’t say exactly what he won, Morlan admitted he fared pretty well.

Before the start of the show, producers went through the audience asking questions to choose contestants. Morlan told them about his “The Price is Right” ring tone, how he watches the show while working as a painting contractor, and how he’s watched the show since he was a kid.

The next thing he knew, he was on Showcase Row looking up to his three friends in the crowd for some help guessing the price of a diamond watch.

They must have been spot on, too.

“Drew Carey is standing right there in front of me,” he said. “I didn’t even know I won, and then I hear him saying, ‘Aron, come on up!’”

Morlan next had his hand at Secret X, a tic-tac-toe product price guessing game. And again, he cleaned house and took the top prize.

Morlan then got the chance to give the Showcase Showdown giant wheel a good hard spin. And he just narrowly missed the perfect $1 spin.

“It’s really solid and has handles on it,” he said. “I did get it around at least once. The crowd hates when you spin it weak.”

Morlan capped off his dream day with a matchup on The Showcase which he couldn’t say if he won or lost.

But what he won on the day would definitely pay off the bet he had with his friends if anyone won, he had to pay for the rental car and buy the whole crew dinner.

And his winnings will help pay for the next big day on his calendar too.

“I’m getting married in six weeks, so what I won is going to be a big help,” he said.
