Okeechobee woman found dead, murder likely cause

July 29th, 2009 by TCPalm.com

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY — The death of a 49-year-old woman found by family members appears to be the result of a homicide, and sheriff’s investigators are interviewing “persons of interest,” the sheriff’s office stated Wednesday.

Sheriff’s deputies responded Tuesday night to an address in the 2700 block of Northeast 11th Court and met with Roberta “Bobbie” Elizabeth Christensen’s son and daughter-in-law.

They reported coming to the residence in the Pine Ridge Park subdivision to see Christensen, a waitress at Golden Corral, and finding her dead inside.

A preliminary examination indicated the death was “most likely the result of a homicide,” a release states.

“The nature of the injury appears to be from a sharp instrument,” the release states.

The sheriff’s office declined to reveal a possible motive and also declined to provide further details about Christensen’s injuries. An estimated time of death also wasn’t stated.

Sheriff’s investigators developed leads during a neighborhood canvass.

Possible homicide? OK here is the rest of the story. She was decapitated!!! I know some people who knew her and the story goes that some guy from the neighborhood asked for a cigarette and when he came into her home he saw money on her couch. He stabbed her, then cut off her head, then stole items (big screen tv, etc.) and tried to sell them in the neighborhood. Why haven’t these facts been reported?

  3. Concerned friend of the Family of the victim Says:

Susan, perhaps these “facts” weren’t reported either out of request or respect of the family. I just hope they don’t read this because hearsay isn’t always factual.

Then I am sorry because I was unaware.

I am a dear friend of the victim’s mother and Bobbie will be sadly missed by her entire family, friends and everybody she touched the lives of…this is the most vicious of crimes that I have ever heard. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother,mother-in-law and the list goes on and on. Why some demented animal would do such a crime is beyond me. She must have been needed more in Heaven then here on earth by our Lord. Bobbie, we love you, will miss you dearly and God Bless. My condolences to her very close family. May her family try to overcome this sad experience.

Hello, some of these things are incorrect. Bobbie was my grandmother, it’s very sad what happened and people that think they know things, make shute it’s the truth before you post it on the Internet. Bobbie, we all love and miss you, you will never be forgotten.

Love, all of her friends and family
