St. Lucie County firefighters agree to freeze raises

ST. LUCIE COUNTY - St. Lucie County firefighters agreed to freeze a 7-percent scheduled pay increase this coming year with increases limited to 3.25 percent for 2010-11 and 2011-2012, according to a release from the Fire District.

The move will save the district $2.7 million over the three years. The freeze will take place on October 1 when the fiscal year begins.

The agreement was approved by union members 70 percent to 30 percent. The Fire Board approved the agreement during their July meeting.
