PORT ST. LUCIE — Police arrested a three-time convicted felon after he was found driving around with his two children and a loaded AK-47-style rifle in his trunk, according to officers.

Police were doing a traffic enforcement patrol along Becker Road when they stopped Irvin V. Parks at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday for driving with windows possibly tinted too dark, Officer Gerry Harrington said.

Parks had his 5- and 9-year-old children in the car when he was pulled over, Harrington said.

Police found about seven grams of marijuana hidden inside Parks’s pants, and another eight to nine grams in the trunk, where officers also found a loaded AK-47-style rifle, they said.

AK-47s are typically “the most powerful rifle you’ll see on the streets outside the military,” Harrington said.

They can go through car windows and doors and bullet-proof vests.

Investigators are now looking into how Parks was able to get a hold of a weapon.

Parks denied that the rifle was his, telling police he didn’t know how it ended up inside the trunk, Harrington said.

Police arrested Parks, 29, on multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

Parks has been convicted on felony drug and driving offenses in the past, Harrington said.

Officer, I just don’t how the AK gots into my car. Maybe one of my damn kids put it there. Way to go A$$hat, set an example for your children follow. By the way nice dreads!

  2. FAMU Says:

WOW! Ignorance is bliss. Before making judgements on others maybe a litteracy course would be helpful. This story is a perfect example that the media doesnt always state the facts. Both of those kids werent his. So if that was false, that simple detail, imagine what else is fabricated (oh just incase that word was too big for you it is the same as false or untrue). Oh yeah and the comment “nice dreads” how racist was that? You gave away your color. :)

  3. Citizen X Says:

Your right FAMU, I am sure this fine upstanding citizen is a role model for all youth. I’d like to invite him into your home to watch your kids.

It is by sheer dumb luck and coincidence, ney…even happenstance, that not only was this OBVIOUSLY profiled hard working tax paying citizen carrying drugs and a rifle, but had children with him.

I am sure he was on his way to church with his kid and the neighbor’s kid when he accidentally put on someone else’s shorts, then he borrowed a car that is not his and happened to get profiled by the evil police officers who woke up that day just biting at the opportunity to opress some poor suburban minority member of society.

As far as the prior FELONIES which are reported, I am sure that that is a right wing media conspiracy to make this upstanding gentleman look like a stereotypical gangsta thug. They created the fabrication that this is a felon so that white america would go tisk tisk and chalk one up to statistics.

The newspaper is always trying to keep the man down.

13.5% of the population commit 37% of violent crimes. Go ahead, fact check me.

Sometimes people have to take responsibility for their own actions. This scumbag is a drug dealer and obviously a violent minded one. He is a convicted FELON and was armed and got caught fair and square. I hope they get ahold of the US Attorney and Trigger Lock this idiot and send him to FEDERAL PRISON for 10 YEARS. These officers will have gauranteed that Citizen X there will not commit a crime for 10 years. There is NO GAIN TIME IN THE FED. Lock him up and creat a somewhat safer world. I gaurantee you he’d shoot you, FAMU, where you stand if he thought hecould benefit from it. Animals who disregard laws and life should be kept in cages. Way to go PSLPD!

    p.s. it’s “literacy”

  4. DM Says:

FAMU- Are you talking to me? I was just commenting that the brotha has nice dreads. I was trying to infuse a positive into the story. By the way homie I’m black. Citizen X, don’t bother with statistics. These knuckleheads don’t want to know the thruth. It goes against anything they are taught (if that is possible).

  5. get a life Says:

way to go citizen x, hit the nail on the head good job lol
