Naked Port St. Lucie man found in room of 12-year-old he met on MySpace, police say
July 8th, 2009 by TCPalm.comPORT ST. LUCIE — A man found naked in the room of a 12-year-old girl with whom he communicated on MySpace and discussed having sex faces two felony charges, according to recently released arrest and court records.
The victim told police she spent most of a day in late June communicating with a man identified as Barrington Benjimen Smith Jr., 18, of the 500 block of Northwest Avon Avenue in Port St. Lucie.
They arranged to meet, she told police. The victim opened her bedroom window and let Smith in about 12:30 a.m. June 25, records state.
The victim said they kissed and “were supposed to talk for a while but that he wasn’t interested in talking,” a warrant application states.
Court and police records give this account:
She said Smith helped her remove her clothes and he also disrobed. He touched her inappropriately and she got nervous.
Discovering the victim’s bedroom door locked, her 14-year-old cousin forced the door open and found them both naked. Smith jumped out the window.
The victim, who picked Smith from a photo line-up, told investigators she told Smith her age during their MySpace communication.
“Wow, that is young,” Smith is quoted as saying. “That will make you better in bed.”
The victim initially told investigators an unknown man forced his way in her bedroom and raped her.
Smith was arrested last week by a U.S. Marshals Service task force on charges of attempted lewd and lascivious battery and lewd or lascivious molestation following a Port St. Lucie police investigation.

Are you guys kidding? How can you not see something wrong with this? An 18 y/o MAN should NOT be trying to have sex with a 12 y/o. Or a 14 y/o or a 16 y/o. Maybe he shouldn’t be trying to have sex at all. And neither should Tim B or Poppa if they actually believe that this kind of behavior is okay.
This isn’t the 18th century. People live very long lives. There’s no reason why an 18 y/o should be violating a 12 y/o. It’s just wrong.

So i suppose that a boyfriend (18) and girlfriend (16) that are caught having sex and the girls father is upset so they press charges when the sex was consensual , the boyfriend should go to jail and have sexual offender on his record for life ? You got to be kidding? Kids are kids and this is no “man” , he’s a teenager…..I dont see how you believe she was being violated if she let him into that room and they talked about sex she knew how old he was also….Im not saying its right but come the F*&% on these are kids we’re talking about , you act as if you’ve never done dumb s*&^ in your life….Get a grip and someone needs to kick you off your high horse…..

Tristan…..If your kid was molested by Michael Jackson would you take a pay out of $20 million? Not to mention he was acquitted ,in a court of law, of the charges a couple of years after the “payout”….What proof does anyone have that this actually took place? Does no one see that obviously something is seriously wrong with both of them? He cant get a girl his age and she feels that she needs to sneak boys into her room window? Im a female and never even had thoughts of sneaking a boy in my room. Times have changed yes but thats why there are 15 y/o girls with babies.
As far as the reference to MJ let him rest his offences were never proven 100% in court and if he did do those things why would the parents of those children settle out of court for large sums of money instead of making sure he was locked up?? Maybe it was a lie? We will never know but what we do know is that he is no longer with us.

FL law is if you are under 24 years old you can have sex w/ a 16 yearold the age of consent. If over 24 y/o the girl has to be 18. These facts are undisputable.

I think that she should have never been on myspace in the first place but most 12 year olds are but if you are you should not be talking about sex !!!!!!!!!!!! when i was 7 i was raped by 4 boys because they always wanted to have sex they told me they wanted to but they didn’t say with me then the next day they raped me one boy was 12,two were 9 and one was 10 so i think she shouldn’t be talking about this on myspace but what he did was still wrong !!!!!!!! plaese comment
