New shuttle service links Treasure Coast with Orlando

June 22nd, 2009 by TCPalm.com

A new shuttle service is offering low rates to and from Orlando.

Smart Shuttle Line Inc., a Melbourne-based company, started its services on the Treasure Coast area to add independent transportation to the airports and area attractions at an affordable rate.

The shuttle line, which opened about three months ago, will start offering routes to and from Orlando starting in July.

Smart Shuttle Line realized there was a transportation need to the Orlando Airport after a high demand of calls came in.

“There is limited service to Orlando and a lot of people, especially from Vero Beach, who are closer to the Orlando Airport than the Palm Beach Airport,” said Jorge Dueri, assistant manager of Smart Shuttle Line Inc. “Plus it’s an airport that can accommodate more flights and cheaper prices.”

Smart Shuttle’s one-way fare to Orlando starts at $30 and round-trip fares start at $54. Packages for two or more people are available where you can save up to 50 percent, said Dueri.

Other private transportation companies charge anywhere from $90 to $225, said Dueri.

“Smart Shuttle is clean, on time, very reasonable in price and has great customer service,” said Vero Beach resident Anne Marinaccio who has used Smart Shuttle twice. “So many people are looking for rides to the airport. Out here there is no bus stop, no train and no airport.”

Smart Shuttle has three 23-passenger luxury shuttles and one 15 passenger shuttle, all of which are equipped with cargo space, televisions, air conditioning and adjustable seats.

Routes to and from Orlando will be servicing Stuart, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, Melbourne, the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail and Palm Beach International Airport.

The bus routes run about every three hours. Purchasing a ticket in advance is recommended so you can secure your seat on the shuttle, said Dueri.

Starting in July the shuttle service hopes to also have stops in Jupiter, Palm Bay, Sebastian and Cocoa Beach.
