FORT PIERCE — Police are searching for two men involved in a home invasion robbery that killed a resident.
Gary Thibodeau, 55, was shot during the Thursday night break-in and later pronounced dead at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute, according to police spokeswoman Audria Moore. Thibideau’s brother, Douglas Costa, 54, was pistol whipped. He was treated and released from the hospital, Moore said.
At 10:36 p.m. that night, police responded to the victim’s home in the 500 block of Hampton Place for shooting activity. When officers arrived they found Thibodeau still alive lying on his side.
Thibodeau, his brother and two other people had been sitting in the living room when two men entered the opened front door, ordered them to the ground and robbed them at gun point, Moore said. The suspects pulled their shirts up above their noses to cover their faces.
The victim pleaded with the suspects not to take his wallet. The suspects ignored his request and shot Thibodeau instead as they were fleeing the scene, Moore said.
Both suspects, described as black men between ages 18 and 20, were wearing white shirts and baggy blue jeans. The suspect with the gun was about six-feet tall and his hair styled in dreadlocks. The other suspect was about 5’10” tall.
The suspects were last seen running east to 5th Street then south for about a block. Then they got into a small black car.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 273-8477 or Detective Jason Braun at (772) 468-1805 extension 5302. You can remain anonymous and still be eligible to receive up to $1,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrests of the suspects involved in the case.

They shouldn’t be to hard to find… Why leave your door open nowadays if you don’t have a weapon handy? Of course these young brothers just needed some money to buy food and formula for their kids.
