I believe DCF should investigate the childs’ home life for abuse. Is he impaired? If not, put him to work after school. Cleaning at minimum wage, until he pays the medical bills.

If the teacher had let the kid sleep and was found out by an administrator, the teacher would have been in trouble. The teacher wakes the kid and gets beaten; still trouble.
Most have no idea what it takes to be a public teacher these days. I have taught 33 years and its just getting worse.
