Stuart handyman will work free to help those in need

May 14th, 2009 by TCPalm.com

STUART — A new handyman-service company is trying to help the community by offering free home repair services for those who need it most.

“I just hope I can actually get to the people that need help,” said David Noel, owner of Nomad Industries.

Noel started the Stuart-based company about a month ago after getting laid off from St. Lucie Pump & Water.

“When I couldn’t find any day labor jobs I figured the best way to help myself was to get into business for myself,” said Noel.

Noel started the company after he did free work for his family and some neighbors because they couldn’t afford to hire someone to do the work themselves.

“I just realized what kind of problems people were running into,” said Noel. So he decided to offer free work for people within Martin County while he expands his business.

For about a week Noel will offer free home repairs for people who can’t afford to hire someone. However, if material is needed for a job the person will need to supply it, said Noel.

“If they really need help I will do it,” said Noel. “If I feel like they are trying to use me I will just say, ‘Sorry I can’t help you.’ ”

Noel can pretty much do anything you need him to do, from replacing and fixing ceiling fans to replacing a kitchen sink, he said.

Thus far, Noel has helped three people in his neighborhood and is about to help a homeowner across his street, he said.

“I’m hoping to help the people that need it and help the people that have problems,” said Noel. “If we all just get together and help others joyfully, we can get through this economy and help each other.”

In the future Noel also hopes to help people with irrigation and pump problems.

The best way to contact Noel is via e-mail at nomadindustry@gmail.com. The Web site is nomadindustries.biz.
