Busted: Sex offender arrested after offering massages on Craigslist
May 8th, 2009 by TCPalm.comPORT ST. LUCIE — A registered sex offender who allegedly offered unlicensed massages via Craigslist was arrested after meeting with an undercover detective and asking her to remove her top, according to records released Thursday.
St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office officials began investigating Jon Richard Glasure, 47, after learning he’d allegedly been giving massages in his home.
Sheriff’s investigators found Glasure, of the 2300 block of Southwest Santana Avenue, posted on the popular Internet classified site Cragislist offering massages for ”donations.”
On Wednesday, a female undercover detective set up an appointment, agreeing to meet Glasure at 7:30 p.m. at his residence.
”Glasure requested that (the detective) remove her shirt a couple of times during the meeting,” an affidavit states.
The investigator told Glasure she wanted a neck and shoulder massage, and Glasure started a massage.
Two detectives from the sex offender unit knocked on the door and took Glasure, who admitted not being a licensed massage therapist, into custody.
He faces a felony unlicensed practice of a health care profession charge.
”Glasure told me he does not charge for the massages so he did not think he was doing anything wrong,” the affidavit states. ”I asked Glasure about him accepting donations and he said he does but it is not always money.”
He said he read about how to give massages and is doing this because he lost his job on St. Patrick’s Day.
“Mr. Glasure tried to skirt the licensing law by claiming he was performing massages for donations,” Sheriff Ken Mascara said in a release. “That didn’t excuse him from having to follow state law, and that’s why we arrested him.”
Sheriff’s investigators arrested Glasure in April 1994 for allegedly performing a lewd and lascivious act on a victim younger than 16.

Somehow I just have to imagine our tax money being spent on more important things. I like how they use the fact that he is a registered sex offender to justify their cause. Such a waist of our tax dollars chasing after someone performing back massages without a license.

This is completely ridiculous. The man did absolutely nothing wrong. How could it possibly be a crime to give back massages?
Fort Pierce has one of the highest per capita murder rates in the nation and a bad gang problem, and the officers are devoting themselves to busting people for giving back massages. Instead of doing their job that is supposed to be to “serve and protect” the community these officers would rather play “thought police”. The male officers are probably getting their jollies by sending this female officer in to get a massage with a wire on.
There is a simple solution to people giving unlicensed massages who advertise on Craig’s list. If you don’t want an unlicensed massage, don’t answer an ad from Craig’s list. Go to a chiropractor’s office or a spa. The police department is completely wasting tax payer money here!

Let’s see — inviting a woman into your home — the privacy of your own home — offering her a massage — asking her to take her top off — hmm. sounds like a date. was there any violence or undue coercion? the article didn’t mention. what was the nature of the guy’s sex offense? also not mentioned in the article. is he barred from dating women? is there some crazy regulation that says you can’t put put your hands on someone or massage them if they are willing subjects? or is he just an easy target for the lazy police force who are trying to get him for any reason? at any cost? why else would the police expend their time and efforts and resources to set this guy up? THIS IS TOTAL CRAP! no wonder taxes are so crazy high. FIRE THE POLICE CHIEF FOR LETTRING THIS TYPE OF HARRASSMENT GO ON.

I like how you educated people that write for newspapers use words like “busted”. There is no such thing. You are being paid way to much to misspell words of the American English Language, and then print them for the whole World to view. No, I am not perfect, but come on folks.
