PORT ST. LUCIE — A 24-year-old man cutting a tree branch while standing on an aluminum ladder was electrocuted Monday afternoon when his saw fell on to a power line.

William C. Farrell, address not available, fell 20 feet to the ground from the accident that happened in the 1600 block of Realty Street, Officer Tom Nichols, spokesman for Port St. Lucie Police told WPTV Channel 5.

Nichols said the victim’s brother-in-law and an offcer tried performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Farrell but were unable to revive him. Farrell was taken to the trauma center at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute where he was pronounced dead.

Farrell worked for Jensen Beach-based Accurate Tree Service, which couldn’t be reached for comment.
