Indian Street Bridge project poised for federal funding
April 2nd, 2009 by Ana X. CeronSTUART — Martin County officials announced today that Gov. Charlie Crist’s Office of Economic Recovery has approved funding for the Indian Street Bridge project.
Construction for the bridge – proposed to span over the St. Lucie River to connect Indian Street in Stuart and 36 Street in Palm City – is estimated to cost more $200 million, according to a news release from Martin County officials circulated today.
Martin officials have been able to reserve $80 million for the project so far, the release states.
Gov. Charlie Crist’s Office of Economic Recovery has recommended roughly $128 million for the project, according to Martin officials.
Legislators are expected to approve the project by April 15.
