Man reports kidnapping, armed robbery

March 23rd, 2009 by Ana X. Ceron

FORT PIERCE — A Fort Pierce man reported armed kidnappers masked his eyes and robbed him of his cash and clothes over the weekend.

The 30-year-old man told police he was walking along Okeechobee Road around midnight on Friday after leaving the El Torito restaurant when a minivan with a television screen in the front pulled over by him.

The driver and another man jumped out in front him, the man said, with the driver pointing a gun at him. The pair told the man they were police officers and wanted to his identification, he said.

After the man took out his documents, the passenger shoved him inside the vehicle, the man told police.

Inside, a woman with long black hair bounded his eyes with a dark shirt and he was driven away in the vehicle, he said.

The man told police he was taken near a radio tower by Metzger Road where he was told to hand over his cash and take off his clothes.

The man said the trio took off with $700, his watch, a ring, identification cards, and his clothes.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Saturday the man called police.

He then led officers to the site of the robbery where police said they were able to photograph tire tracks of the vehicle believed to have been involved in the kidnapping.
