PORT ST. LUCIE — Police are searching for a burglar who they say broke into an elderly couple’s home on Sunday and threatened to kill the 76-year-old husband.
At about 10 p.m., the couple was in their family room watching television when the man burst into the home in the 2200 block of Southeast Seafury Lane, Port St. Lucie police spokesman Officer Thomas Nichols said.
The man demanded cash and threatened to kill the husband unless the 64-year-old wife handed over cash, Nichols said. When he got the money, the suspect fled, Nichols said.
No one was injured in the incident.
The suspect is described as a black man about six-foot to six-foot-two with a thin build. He was soft-spoken and is believed to be in his 20s, police said.
During the burglary, he wore a black-hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at (800) 273-8477 or the Pt. St. Lucie Police at (772) 871-5001.
