Martin names school-related employee of the year

The Martin County School District named Kandy Gilbert, the extended day manager at Felix A. Williams Elementary, its school-related employee of the year.

Gilbert has worked for the school district for 17 years, 15 of them at Felix A. Williams Elementary. As the extended day manager, she oversees a program with about 200 children. She plans student activities and the security of operation of the when the extended-day program is in session but the school is closed.

Her supervisors described her as a kind and caring school leader.

The school-related employee of the year award is given to non-instructional personnel, such as classroom aides, secretaries and janitorial staff.
