St. Lucie hosts foreclosure seminar

February 20th, 2009 by Cara Fitzpatrick

FORT PIERCE — The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners will host a foreclosure seminar from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. next Friday to provide legal advice for homeowners and renters facing foreclosure.

This public forum will be held in the commission chambers at 2300 Virginia Ave. and is sponsored by the Board of County Commissioners, the St. Lucie County Bar Association and the 19th Judicial Circuit Court.

St. Lucie County’s Property and Homeowners’ Association Committee held a foreclosure seminar last month focusing on issues relating to homeowners’ associations. The meeting on Feb. 27 will be geared toward addressing the concerns of individual homeowners and renters who are facing foreclosure.

Judge Burton Conner and Judge F. Shields McManus will explain the recent administrative order signed by Chief Judge William Roby, which requires mediation in all lawsuits filed to foreclose mortgages on owner-occupied residences along the Treasure Coast.

The list of experts scheduled to present and answer questions include: Attorney Chris Draper of Becker & Poliakoff, P.A.; Attorney Colin Lloyd of Hoskins, Turco, Lloyd & Lloyd; Attorney Steve Navaretta of Navaretta & Navaretta Attorneys at Law; Attorney Paul Fanning, general counsel with Core Communities and Judges Conner and McManus with the 19th Judicial Circuit Court.
