Two check-cashing stores discovered burglarized

February 5th, 2009 by Ana X. Ceron

STUART — Police are investigating the burglaries of two check-cashing stores discovered this morning.

At about 7:45 a.m., Stuart Police were dispatched to a report of an open door at the rear of the Advance America Cash Advance at 2170 S. Federal Highway.

The arriving officer discovered a forced entry, police spokesman Sgt. Marty Jacobson said.

Shortly after 8 a.m. an officer checked the rear doors of another Advance America Cash Advance at 816 S. Federal Highway. He found that that business had been burglarized too, Jacobson said.

Both incidents are under investigation, with officials working to determine what was taken at each location.

The stores are the most recent check-cashing businesses to report burglaries in recent weeks. Others in St. Lucie County have also reported break ins.

Anyone with information about today’s incidents is asked to contact Det. Jaylee Porcelli at (772) 220-3923 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at (800) 273-8477.
