January 21st, 2009 by TCPalm.com

PORT ST. LUCIE — Ermanne Metelu, 39, accused of beating his wife following an argument over her wishes not to attend church Sunday is facing a battery charge, according to police.

The 33-year-old victim told investigators Sunday she’d gotten home late the night before from work and that she argued with her husband at their home in the 600 block of Southwest Old Briar Avenue, about her not wanting to go to church.

She said Metelus got angry and hit her twice in the face. She remembered Metelus splashing alcohol on her face to wake her. The victim’s lips were bloody and her right cheek swollen.

Metelus told investigators his wife refused to go to church and that she’d “gone crazy.” Metelus, listed as unemployed, was taken to jail on a domestic battery charge.
