Martin County man hit by car, dies

A man trying to run across a busy Martin County roadway was struck and killed tonight, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man, who has not been identified, was running across Monterey Road near the Martin County Jail, at 800 S.E. Monterey Road between Kanner Highway and U.S. 1, around 7:30 p.m. when he was hit by a passing car, according to FHP officials. He died at the scene.
