FORT PIERCE — A man was arrested on a battery charge after allegedly getting into a fistfight on Tuesday night.

But the violence continued even as 37-year-old Franklin Vaughn was on his way to his jail cell.

Shortly before 7 p.m., Fort Pierce police were called to a home in the 600 block of South Seventh Street where Vaughn had been allegedly arguing with a 47-year-old man.

The homeowner told police the two were fighting over the older man’s girlfriend after he heard Vaughn talking to her.

The homeowner separated the men, but Vaughn later became upset because he couldn’t find his dog, Chip, at the home, he told police. When the other two men went to check on Vaughn, he punched the 47-year-old man and bit his right ear, the homeowner said.

Police then arrested Vaughn on the battery charge.

During the trip to the St. Lucie County jail, Vaughn became agitated and kicked the patrol car’s interior, police said. Once at the jail and outside the car, Vaughn kept yelling and cursing, police said, and began to pound his head against the car’s roof and trunk. He then had to be restrained in a chair at the booking area, police said.

Ms. Ceron, doesn’t your paper pay copy editors to read your work? The men “WHEN” to check on him? Vaughn bit him IN his ear? How does one bite someone IN the ear? Must have a very small mouth.

Come on. You people need to improve the writing quality of your publications. Please work on it.
