Meet incoming PSL police chief
January 9th, 2009 by Ana X. CeronPORT ST. LUCIE — Residents are invited to meet new Police Chief Donald Shinnamon at a reception on Monday afternoon.
Shinnamon was hired in December to replace former Chief John Skinner, who retired from the department after 27 years.
Shinnamon, formerly the public safety director for the city of Holly Hill, will start his new post after he’s sworn in during Monday’s 7 p.m. city council meeting. The meeting will be held at the Council Chambers located at the municipal complex at 121 S.W. Port St. Lucie Boulevard.
Before that, Shinnamon will be meeting with residents during the reception, which will be held at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 S.E. Airoso Blvd., from 3 to 6 p.m.
Before working at Holly Hill, Shinnamon served as police chief in Gainesville and spent 26 years with the Baltimore County Police Department in Maryland where he retired as the chief of operations.
