JENSEN BEACH — A man accused of robbing three people inside a Jensen Beach apartment is behind bars after Martin County deputies found him shortly after the break in.

Just before 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, Casey K. Kirkbride knocked on the apartment in the 2000 block of Northeast Collins Circle, where friends let him inside, according to a Martin County Sheriff’s report.

Once inside, Kirkbride, 20, pointed a shotgun at three people in the apartment, telling them he wanted money, the victims told deputies. One woman reached into her purse and gave him between $40 and $45, she said.

When he demanded more money, the victims told him they didn’t have any and Kirkbride fired a shot inside the apartment, according to the victims.

He later fled on his motorcycle and deputies found him heading to Jensen Beach Boulevard.

Deputies found the shotgun hidden in bushes at the victims’ apartment complex.

Kirkbride declined to answer investigators’ questions, but did say he had taken Xanax that night.

He is being held in the Martin County jail on $240,500 bail. He faces several charges, including armed home invasion robbery, three counts of aggravated assault and theft.
