PSL man robbed at home twice in 2 weeks

December 1st, 2008 by Ana X. Ceron

Armed robbers broke into the home of a Port St. Lucie man over the weekend, marking the second time in less than two weeks that he reported thieves broke into his home to make off with cash, police said.

The man told police he was sleeping in his home in the 3200 block of Pinto Street shortly before 1:30 a.m. when four men woke him up at gunpoint.

They threatened to kill him if he did not give them money, according to a police report. He told police he then handed over cash that he had in his pocket.

One of the men then tied the resident and his girlfriend with plastic zip ties before the thieves – all wearing dark clothes and hoods over their heads – fled, police said.

In the Nov. 18 incident, two men robbed him at gunpoint at his home.
The man said he was at home when the men kicked in his door and robbed him. When he resisted, he was struck in the head several times with a gun. The men made off with an unknown amount of cash, a police report states.

One of the men also reportedly fired a shot during the struggle.

Paramedics took the man to St. Lucie Medical Center for treatment.

Police spokesman Robert Vega said on Monday that investigators believe the two incidents are related but declined to go into specifics because of an ongoing investigation.

Police also declined to disclose how much cash was taken in Saturday’s break in.
